Where to Put An Ugly Coffee Table
There’s no argument – ugly coffee tables exist, and unfortunately, they often end up dominating a living room. But before you get ready to toss that ugly piece of furniture out the door, remember, it doesn’t have to be an eyesore. Here are a few creative tips on the best places to hide that ugly coffee table.
1. Slipcover That Coffee Table
The first thing to consider is slipcovering your ugly coffee table with a fabric that matches your other furniture or your wall size. A slipcover will quickly turn an old, ugly coffee table into an inviting piece of furniture.
2. Paint That Ugly Table
Painting your ugly coffee table is another great option. If painting your furniture is not for you, you can also consider applying contact paper with a fun pattern, like chevron or polka-dots. There are many contact paper options to choose from, making it a great choice if you’re on a budget.
3. Hide That Coffee Table In Plain Sight
If your living room is on the small side, use ottomans or a love seat to hide your unsightly coffee table. Place the ottomans in a square, allowing one ottoman to be moved out of the way if you need access to the table. Put a tray on top of the ottomans to hold books and board games.
4. Give That Table a New Purpose
If you’re lacking storage space, give that ugly coffee table a new lease on life by turning it into multipurpose storage. If you place a lid on the top you can store items that are not used regularly. Or, turn it into a vanity with the addition of a large mirror, some organizers, and a small stool proving an interesting spot to get ready in the morning.
5. Rearrange Your Furniture
Refurnishing your living room is a great way to hide an ugly coffee table. Try moving your sofa and chairs to the walls, and placing area rugs in that empty spot.
6. Hide That Ugly Table underneath Something Else
If the coffee table your own still has plenty of use and functionality, don’t get rid of it. Instead, try covering it with a large basket or tray or strategically placing something like a plant or a large lamp on top of it.
No matter how you choose to hide that old, unsightly coffee table, there’s no need to live with it ruining the look of your living room. With a bit of creativity, you can easily make it a part of your décor instead.
