RePurpose your Coffee Table
Many of us have old coffee tables that have been passed down from household to household, or have been collecting dust in storage. While they might not offer much use in their current state, coffee tables can be upcycled into something new, exciting, and unique. Here are a few ideas to get you started on what to make out of an old coffee table.
1. Bench:
- Start by sanding the table, removing any previous stains.
- Apply a thick layer of foam to achieve a comfortable seating area.
- Cover the foam in fabric or paint it a color of your choosing.
2. Outdoor Bench-style table:
- Sand, polish, and clear coat the table.
- Make a DIY mounting system to secure the table to the ground while still allowing it to be mobile.
- Use the top of the table as a tabletop, or as additional seating.
3. Desk:
- Attach 4 slim table legs to the corners of the table.
- Sand and paint the table in a neutral color.
- Adhere an adhesive chalkboard or whiteboard to the surface of the table for an area to stay organized.
4. Plant Stand:
- Start by sanding the surface to allow for simple repainting.
- Paint the table a bright color, or use stencils to create decorative patterns.
- Use the table as a plant stand, perfect for adding a pop of color to your outdoor space.
With a little creativity and elbow-grease, you are sure to find new life for any old coffee table with these ideas. In no time, your old coffee table can be the centerpiece of any room, and something to be proud of making from scratch.
