How to Clean a Glass Coffee Pot Effectively
Coffee makers are an essential part of our morning routine. A well maintained, clean coffee pot helps to ensure that our daily cup of coffee is truly enjoyable. But what is the best way to clean a glass coffee pot? Here are a few tips that are sure to help get your glass coffeemaker in tip-top shape.
Preparing for Cleaning
- Remove all components – First and foremost, remove the filter basket and any other components. Rinse everything off with warm water and place on a counter.
- Empty the leftover coffee – If you haven’t already done this, discard any leftover coffee or grounds in the pot and dispose of them properly.
- Fill with warm water – Fill the pot with warm water and add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda. Stir it until the baking soda is dissolved.
Cleaning the Pot
- Soak for 15 minutes – Allow the pot to soak for 15 minutes. This will help to break down any hard-to-remove residue that may be stuck on the pot.
- Scrub with a brush – Use a non-abrasive scrubbing brush to remove any remaining residue in the coffee maker and on the glass pot. Rinse the brush when necessary to avoid scratching the glass.
- Wash with soapy water – Fill the coffee pot with warm, soapy water and scrub with the brush once again. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a clean cloth.
Finishing Touches
- Reassemble the coffee pot – Make sure all components are clean and dry before reassembling the coffee pot. Gently replace the filter basket and the lid.
- Run a cycle of distilled vinegar – To deodorize and clean, fill the coffeemaker with equal parts distilled vinegar and water, and run a brewing cycle. Discard the vinegar and rinse the pot with clean water.
- Wipe and dry – Wipe the exterior of the coffee pot with a clean, dry cloth. Let the pot air dry on a drying rack before replacing it in its regular spot.
Cleaning your glass coffee pot regularly is a great way to keep your morning cup of joe tasting its best. With a little bit of effort, your glass coffee pot will be sparkling clean and ready to go!
