how to use glass coffee percolator

Using a Glass Coffee Percolator

A glass coffee percolator is a great way to make flavorful and delicious coffee right at home. This stovetop device uses gravity to extract robust coffee flavour and scent the air with a highly satisfying aroma. Here are the steps for using a glass coffee percolator:

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients and Equipment

  • Coffee: Use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for each 6 ounces of water.
  • Water: Use cold water, not boiling water, for best results.
  • Equipment: Use a glass or Pyrex percolator, and make sure it is clean.

Step 2: Fill the Percolator with Water

Fill the percolator with cold water to the desired level. The water should almost, but not quite reach the top of the stem inside the percolator. Make sure the stem is clear of any grounds or residue.

Step 3: Add the Coffee Grounds

Next, add the coffee grounds to the percolator. Spread the grounds out evenly over the top of the water and stir gently.

Step 4: Put the Percolator on the Stove

Put the percolator on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Heat the percolator until the water boils, and the coffee begins to rise through the stem and spout.

Step 5: Turn the Heat Down

Once the water has reached a boil and the coffee has started percolating, turn the heat down to low. Continue to simmer the coffee until it reaches the desired strength.

Step 6: Remove the Percolator from the Stove

When the desired strength has been reached, remove the percolator from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.

Step 7: Serve

Carefully pour the hot coffee into individual cups and enjoy!
