Updating a Brass and Glass Coffee Table
Let’s face it, if your coffee table looks like it’s been stuck in the 80s, it’s time to give it an update. It can be hard to let go of a beloved piece of furniture, but with a few simple steps you can easily take a tattered old brass and glass coffee table and transform it into something sophisticated and stylish.
Things You’ll Need
- Vacuum cleaner to remove dust
- Sandpaper
- Methylated spirits
- Primer
- Spray paint
- Spray sealer
Step 1: Clean and Prepare
- Remove all items from the table and use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dust or dirt.
- Lightly sand the metal frame with coarse sandpaper.
- Clean the metal frame and glass top with methylated spirits.
Step 2: Prime and Paint
- Apply a metal primer to the metal frame.
- Once the primer has dried, spray paint the metal frame with a metallic color of your choice.
- Wait for the paint to dry before applying a spray sealer.
- Note: Make sure to use multiple light coats of spray paint instead of one heavy coat.
Step 3: Enjoy and Show Off
Once the sealer is dry, you can add your items to the table and enjoy your new look. And don’t forget to show it off; you’ll be surprised how different your table looks after it’s been given a facelift.
So don’t be tempted to get rid of that dated coffee table. With a few simple steps you can rejuvenate it and give it a fresh and modern look.
