How to turn a round coffee table into an ottoman
Adding an ottoman to your living room is a great way to provide extra seating and a spot to kick up your feet. But if you’d like to save some money and get creative, a round coffee table is a great foundation to transform into your own unique ottoman. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
You’re going to need the following materials:
- Round coffee table
- Foam padding
- Upholstery batting
- Fabric
- Staple gun
- Optional: Glue
Step 2: Add Your Cushioning
Start by cutting your foam padding to the size of your coffee table. If you’d like a thicker ottoman, two pieces of foam may be more comfortable. Place the pieces of foam on top of your table and glue them together, or just staple them if you’d like.
Step 3: Sew or Staple the Upholstery
On top of your foam, place the upholstery batting so that it covers the entire surface of the table. If you choose to use glue, make sure that it won’t damage your table or upholstery materials. It may be necessary to make two separate pieces to cover the top and sides of your ottoman.
Once the batting is in place, staple or sew it to the edges of the table. This will ensure an even surface on your ottoman.
Step 4: Add the Finishing Touch
To add the finishing touches, pick out a piece of fabric that you feel goes well with the room. Wrap the fabric around the top and sides of your ottoman, and then staple or sew the edges to hold it in place.
