Removing Scratches from Glass Coffee Tables
No matter how careful we are with our glass coffee tables, at some point we are likely to notice scratches on the glass top. Though the scratches make the table look worse, we have several ways to improve its appearance and restore the glass surface.
Things you will need
- White toothpaste
- Baking soda
- Vinegar
- Mild soap
- Soft washcloth
- Glass cleaner
Step 1: Clean the Table
Using a soft washcloth, mild soap and warm water, gently clean the table to remove any dust or dirt. Rinse the cloth with clean water and wipe off any suds.
Step 2: Use Toothpaste
Important: be sure to avoid using any toothpaste with whitening ingredients or that has a gel-based texture. You want to use a regular white toothpaste. Squeeze a pea-sized amount of toothpaste onto the scratch, then use your fingertip to gently rub it into the glass. Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. If the scratch is still visible, repeat this process up to three times.
Step 3: Use Baking Soda and Vinegar
Mix equal parts baking soda and vinegar together to form a paste. Apply the paste onto the scratch, then allow it to dry and bubble. When the paste has dried, wipe it off with a clean, damp cloth.
Step 4: Use Glass Cleaner
Finish by spraying the glass with a glass cleaner, then wiping it off with a clean, dry cloth.
Following these steps should help decrease the appearance of scratches on your glass coffee table. However, if the scratches remain, you may need to consider replacing the glass.
