How to Remove Candle Wax from Glass Coffee Table
Candle wax is inevitable with certain types of gatherings, and unfortunately, it can be a common side effect for items in your home. Coffee tables are one of the most vulnerable, glass being a very fragile material that can easily collect wax and leave it once cooled. Cleaning it off quickly is important to ensure the wax doesn’t ruin the glass or become difficult to remove. Here are a few steps for removing candle wax from your glass coffee tables:
Things You’ll Need:
- Scraping tool
- Hair dryer
- Newspaper
- Paper towels
- Glass cleaner
Step 1: Scrape Off As Much Wax As Possible
Using a scraping tool, such as a butter knife, you can get off as much wax as you can from the glass. You want to make sure you scrape lightly, so as not to scratch the glass.
Step 2: Heat the Wax Until Melted
Using a hairdryer, heat the remaining wax until it melts. As the wax melts, be sure to keep it contained with newspaper around the area it’s melting. This will help prevent the wax from spreading further.
Step 3: Wipe Away the Remaining Wax with a Paper Towel
Once everything has melted and the wax is contained, take paper towels and use them to wipe off the remaining melted wax. Be sure to gently press against the glass rather than scrubbing it.
Step 4: Clean the Area with Glass Cleaner
To remove any wax residue and make the area look brand new, spray glass cleaner on a paper towel and gently clean the area. Again, be sure to use gentle pressure rather than scrubbing.
Step 5: Enjoy Your Clean Coffee Table
Once all the wax is gone, you should be able to enjoy your glass coffee table once again. Remember to buy cheap candles for the next gathering, as this will help minimize the risk of any wax residue ending up on your table.
