Removing Candle Wax from a Glass Coffee Table
Removing candle wax from a glass coffee table can be a tricky task. Here are few steps to help you easily get rid of the wax without leaving behind a mess:
Step 1: Freezing the Wax
Place a few ice cubes in a plastic bag, then set it on top of the wax stain. Let the ice cubes sit for a few minutes until the wax has hardened and become brittle.
Step 2: Scraping the Wax
Carefully use a dull butter knife or plastic scraper to scrape off the wax in one whole piece. Be sure to take your time and scrape slowly so you do not scratch the glass surface.
Step 3: Removing Stubborn Stains
If there are any remaining wax stains, mix together equal parts baking soda, salt, and vegetable oil to create a paste. Apply the paste gently to the stained area, then rub gently with a circular motion. Once the wax is completely removed, rinse the paste off with warm water.
Step 4: Finishing Up
To make your glass shining again, clean with a little white vinegar and water solution. Wipe off with a dry cloth and your coffee table will be looking like new again.
Things to Avoid
- Do not use hot or boiling water on your glass coffee table, it will cause heat stress on the glass surface.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as this will cause the glass to become dull and possibly scratched.
- Never try to chip or break away the wax, as this will increase your chances of scratching the glass.
