DIY Shattered Glass Coffee Table
Do you want to give your living room a modern look? Are you the creative type that loves to show off your DIY skills? If so, have a go at making a stunning shattered glass coffee table, which is surprisingly easier to make than you’d think.
Things You’ll Need:
- Plywood and hardwood boards
- Glass shards
- Wood glue
- Jigsaw
- Clear silicone sealant
- Stainless steel screws and washers
- Screwdriver
- Saw
- Drill
- Measuring tape
Step 1: Setting Up the Frame
Take your hardwood boards and plywood and create a frame in the desired size. Use a saw and a jigsaw to cut everything to the same length. Once you’ve drawn out the design, remember to drill holes for the screws and use the washers to ensure everything is secured tightly together.
Step 2: Laying down the Glass Shards
Now it’s time to lay down the glass shards. Start by adding a thin line of the wood glue to the bottom of your frame. Take any desired design you have in mind and start placing the shards in the glue. Once you’ve covered the entire frame, leave the shards to dry for 12 hours.
Step 3: Securing the Shards with Silicone
After the glue has dried, use the clear silicone sealant and run a thin line around each piece of glass. This will help secure the shards in place and prevent them from shattering in the future.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
Once the silicone has dried, your shattered glass coffee table is ready! For the finishing touches, add a few coats of paint or varnish in desired colour.
Now your unique shattered glass coffee table is ready to adorn your living room and wow your friends and family. Have fun creating this one-of-a-kind masterpiece!
