DIY Sliding Coffee Table
Would you like to have a beautiful and functional coffee table that doesn’t take up too much space? This tutorial will guide you through the steps of building a sliding top coffee table!
Materials you will need:
- 4×4 wood for the frame
- 1×4 wood for the top and bottom
- Thin plywood for the slide supports
- Screws
- Wood glue
- Paint or stain
- Jigsaw
- Optional: Circular saw and router
Step One: Building the Frame
Start by cutting and assembling the 4x4s together at right angles to create a square frame. Secure the joints using wood glue and screws. This will be the base of your table.
Step Two: Attaching the Top and Bottom
Cut the 1x4s to size and place them around the edges of the frame. Secure them using glue and screws. Then use a circular saw of router to create decorative edges, if desired.
Step Three: Building the Sliding Supports
Cut the plywood into 12 strips that are 1 inch by 2-2.5 inches. Place the strips along the underside of the table, making sure they line up with the edges. Secure the strips with glue and screws.
Step Four: Finishing Touches
Paint or stain your table and let it dry. Then you are ready to enjoy your stylish and space-saving sliding top coffee table!
Good luck and have fun with your project!
