How to Make a Coffee Table from Pallets
Pallets make an excellent source of raw materials for furniture. This guide shows how to make a coffee table from pallets.
Materials
- 2 pallets
- Saw
- Hammer
- Wood screws
- Screwdriver
- Sandpaper or sanding machine
- Stain/varnish (optional)
Step 1: Preparing the Pallets
Begin by disassembling the pallets. Remove the wooden planks from the pallet frames and use the saw to cut each plank to the desired length.
Step 2: Attaching the Planks
Take 4 of the planks and lay them out in a row side by side. Secure them together by screwing in the wood screws on either side, using the hammer and screwdriver. If needed, sand down the planks for a smooth finish.
Step 3: Assembling the Frame
Lay out the frame of the pallets side by side and select 2 of the planks from the row. Place these planks along the length of the frame, and through the holes in the frame, screw in the wood screws. Secure the boards in place with the screws and repeat with the other planks to complete the frame.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
To finish off, sand down the entire table with sandpaper or a sanding machine. If desired, you can also stain and varnish the table for added protection.
Conclusion
That’s it! You’ve now successfully built a coffee table from pallets. This table is strong, sturdy and easy to make, and is sure to add a touch of rustic charm to your home.
