How to Make a Timber Coffee Table

Getting the Materials

To make your own timber coffee table, you’ll need the following materials:

  • Pine or cedar timber boards
  • Wood glue
  • Nails
  • Wood filler
  • Wood stain
  • Finishing sealer

You may also want a jigsaw or saw to cut the pieces, a sander for smoothing, and clamps for holding it all together.

Assembling the Table

Once you have all the materials, you can start building the coffee table.

  1. Lay the timber boards down and decide how big you want the table top to be. Measure and mark off where you want to cut and use the jigsaw or saw to cut the boards to the desired size.
  2. Take the remaining pieces that you have cut and put them together in the shape of the table top. Make sure all the pieces are aligned correctly and hold the pieces together with clamps.
  3. Once the pieces are arranged in the right shape, spread wood glue along the edges and secure the pieces together with nails.
  4. Once nailed together, use a sander to sand down any rough edges.
  5. Fill in any holes or gaps with wood filler, then use a brush or rag to apply the wood stain to the table top.
  6. Finish off the table top with a finishing sealer to ensure it is waterproof.
  7. If you choose to, add legs to your table for extra support.

Enjoy Your Table

Your coffee table is now ready to enjoy! Make sure you store it in a dry place to ensure long lasting use. And don’t forget to add some stylish decor elements to finish off the look.
