How to Make a Pipe Coffee Table

Coffee tables are a great addition to any living room or office. Creating your own pipe coffee table is a great DIY project that you can do with basic tools. With a few materials and a little elbow grease, you can easily create an attractive and unique coffee table.

  • 3/4 inch x 10 feet galvanized steel pipe
  • 3/4 inch galvanized steel nipples (3 inches long)
  • 3/4 inch galvanized steel floor flanges
  • Tabletop (wood or glass) of choice
  • Drill with bit size to fit generator nipples
  • Electric tape or bubble gum

  1. Assemble the frame. Take your galvanized steel pipe and cut them into the proper sizes you need for your tabletop. We recommend the dimensions below. Put your pieces together using the 3-inch-long nipples and floor flanges. If needed, use electric tape or bubble gum to hold the pieces together.
  2. Attach the frame to the table. On each corner of your tabletop, drill a hole large enough to fit the threads of the nipples. Place the tabletop over the frame and line the holes up. Secure the frame to the tabletop with the wrench.
  3. Finish the table. Once the frame and tabletop are secured together, you have the option to add any additional features, such as a shelf or drawers. Once you’ve finished, sit back and enjoy your new pipe coffee table!

Making your own pipe coffee table is a simple, budget-friendly DIY project that can be completed with minimal tools and materials. With our instructions, completing this project shouldn’t take you longer than a few hours. Have fun and enjoy your finished product!
