Making Your own Ottoman Coffee Table
A great way to modernize a room is to make your own ottoman coffee table. An ottoman coffee table is a combination of a soft and comfortable stool with the practicality and convenience of a traditional coffee table.
Materials Needed:
- Fabric
- Cardboard
- Batting
- Wooden Frame
- Wooden Legs
- Upholstery screws
- Drill
- Screwdriver
Step 1: Cut the Frame
Using a saw, cut the wooden frame to the size you desire. Make sure the frame is well rounded on the outside and the corners are smooth. This will ensure that your fabric will fit snugly when you are upholstering the frame.
Step 2: Attach the Legs
Once you have the frame cut, use a drill and screws to attach the legs to the frame. Make sure the legs are evenly spaced and secure.
Step 3: Make the Cardboard Liner
Next, cut a piece of cardboard to the same size as your frame. Place the cardboard in the frame and use tape to secure it in place. This will help when you are upholstering the frame, as it gives the fabric something to grip.
Step 4: Upholster the Frame
Now it’s time to upholster the frame. Start by laying the fabric across the frame and cutting it to size. Then, use a staple gun to attach the fabric to the frame, making sure to pull it tight. Finally, use upholstery screws to secure the fabric to the frame.
Step 5: Add the Final Touches
Once the fabric is attached, you can add the batting around the edges of the frame. This will give the ottoman a finished look and protect it from wear and tear. You also might choose to add button tufts or other embellishments to give your ottoman a unique style.
Step 6: Enjoy!
Once you have completed your ottoman coffee table, you can enjoy it for many years. It’s a great way to add a touch of personality and style to any room.
