How to Make a Half Barrel Coffee Table
Making a half barrel coffee table out of an old wine barrel can be an inexpensive way to create a unique, rustic piece for your home. This type of table can make a great addition to a family room, game room, or any other room. Follow these steps to build your own half barrel coffee table.
Materials Needed
- Wooden barrel (wine cask)
- Four legs
- Three or four biscuits
- Wood glue
- Drill
- Countersink bit
- Screws
- Sandpaper
- Stain (optional)
Instructions
- Cut the barrel in half either with a circular saw or a hand saw. Make sure the cut is even so the table will stand up straight.
- Cut four legs to a length of your choice. Depending on the size and shape of the barrel, the length of the legs should be around 16-18 inches.
- Attach the legs to the barrel. Drill four countersink holes on each corner of the barrel and use wood glue and screws to attach the legs. Make sure the legs are in the same direction.
- Attach biscuits to the corners where the legs meet. This will add extra strength and stability to the table.
- Use sandpaper to smooth the wood and stain the table (optional).
