How to Create a Glass Lift Top Coffee Table

Start by preparing the plywood for the lift mechanism. Measure out the size of the glass and mark it onto one of the pieces of plywood. Cut out the marked areaand test the fit. Once done, sand the area to make sure it is smooth.
Step 3: Install the Lift Mechanism
In this step, you will need to install the lift mechanism. Start by marking the position of the mechanism on the bottom of the plywood. Make sure that it is spaced evenly and that it is placed correctly. You may need to drill holes for the screws. Once the mechanism is in place, attach the screws.
Step 4: Attach the Glass
Next, attach the glass to the top of the plywood. First, use a router to create a groove around the perimeter of the plywood. This is where the glass will sit.
Once the groove is ready, apply Weldbond glue to the plywood, then carefully place the glass onto the plywood. Wipe off any excess glue from the surface.

Once the glass is in place, it is time to seal and paint the lift top table. Start by filling any gaps between the glass and plywood with wood filler. Once the filler has dried, sand the surface down to make sure that it is smooth. Apply any desired sealant or varnish to protect the wood. Lastly, paint the table in the desired colour.
Step 6: Finishing Touches
You have now successfully created a glass lift top coffee table! To give it a professional look, you may want to add rubber feet or caster wheels to the bottom.
