Making a Coffee Table with Glass and Wood

Materials
- 2 pieces of 1” x 12” lumber, 48” long
- 1 piece of 1⁄4” tempered glass, cut to 48” x 22”
- Wood glue
- Wood screws, 2”
- 1” wood screws, 2.5”
- 2 pieces of 1” x 2” lumber, 48” long
- Sandpaper, 120- and 150-grit
Instructions
- Step 1: Sand the three pieces of 1” x 12” lumber until smooth. Then, use wood glue to attach the pieces together into one solid unit.
- Step 2: Position the unit and attach it to the 1⁄4” tempered glass with wood screws, pre-drilling pilot holes for the screws if necessary.
- Step 3: Attach the two pieces of 1” x 2” lumber to the bottom of the glass and wood unit to form legs. Use 2.5” screws in pilot holes to attach the legs securely.
- Step 4: Sand the entire unit with 120-grit sandpaper, then sand it again with 150-grit for a smoother finish.
- Step 5: Wax or polyurethane the piece to protect it and add a glossy shine, or leave it natural for a more rustic look.
- Step 6: Enjoy your new coffee table!
