Fixing Dents in Your Coffee Table
Do you have a dent in your coffee table that you want to get rid of? Luckily, taking out a dent in furniture is a far easier task than you might think. Here’s how it’s done:
Step 1: Gather Supplies
The supplies you need for this job are relatively minimal. Here’s what you’ll need:
- A hairdryer (or heat gun)
- Ice cubes
- A plastic bag
- A spoon or other flat utensil
Step 2: Heat the Dent
The process of getting a dent out of a surface is a process of heating, cooling, and spreading. To start, you’ll need to heat up the dent. Use the hairdryer or heat gun to focus heat onto the dent. Keep the device a few inches away from the surface of the table and keep it in motion. Heat the dent until it is nearly hot to the touch.
Step 3: Cool the Dent
Once you’ve heated up the dent, it’s time to cool it down. Take the plastic bag and fill it with ice cubes. Now place the bag of ice cubes on top of the heated dent and let it sit for a few minutes. The heat and cold will expand and contract the wood and metal, causing the dent to rise.
Step 4: Spread the Dent
To complete the process, grab the spoon (or other flat utensil) and use it to spread the dent over the surface of the table. Apply slight pressure and evenly distribute the pressure as you spread the dent. After a few minutes of doing this, you should notice that the dent is much less visible.
That’s all there is to it! As you can see, fixing the dent in your coffee table is a fairly straightforward job. With the right supplies and a bit of patience, you can make your table look as good as new in no time.
