Fixing a Cracked Glass Coffee Table
Accidents happen and when you accidentally break the glass on your coffee table, it can often leave you feeling frustrated and helpless. But fear not, it is possible to fix a cracked glass coffee table and get it looking like new again. Here are some steps to help you do just that:
Step 1: Gather the Supplies
Before you start, you will need to gather the following supplies:
- Clear silicone adhesive
- A razor blade
- Painters tape or masking tape
- Old cloth
Step 2: Prepare the Table
Once you have your supplies, you can begin to prepare the table for the repair. First, you must cover the entire table with painters or masking tape, including the crack itself. This will help to keep the broken pieces of glass together while you work.
Step 3: Remove the Broken Glass
Now it is time to remove the broken pieces of glass. Using the razor blade, carefully scrape away the remaining pieces of glass, making sure not to damage the surface beneath. Your goal is to create a clean, smooth surface for the adhesive.
Step 4: Apply the Adhesive
Now that you have a clean surface, you can apply the adhesive. Squeeze the clear silicone adhesive around the frame of the table and use the old cloth to smoothen it out. Apply enough adhesive to ensure that the crack is properly sealed.
Step 5: Leave the Table to Cure
Once you have finished applying the adhesive, it is important to leave the table to cure. Check the instructions of your adhesive to determine the exact curing time, but you should generally leave it for at least 24 hours.
Step 6: Remove the Tape and Enjoy
Once the curing time has elapsed, you can remove the tape and reveal your fixed coffee table. Make sure to remove any excess adhesive that may have seeped onto the table, then sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour!
