Fixing a Broken Glass Coffee Table
Most of us have at least one coffee table in our homes, often made of glass. While stylish and useful, glass coffee tables can be fragile and easily broken. Fortunately, there are several ways to repair them.
Gather Your Materials
Before you can repair your broken glass coffee table, you will need to gather the necessary materials. These include:
- Clear Epoxy Glue
- Super Glue
- Glass Cleaner
- Masking Tape
- Old Newspapers
- Small Hammer
- Safety Glasses
Clean the Broken Glass
Once you have all the materials necessary to repair your broken glass coffee table, it is time to begin. The first step is to clean the broken glass pieces. This will remove any dirt or debris that could prevent the epoxy from sticking properly. Use a glass cleaner and a soft rag to do this.
Apply the Glue
Now that the glass is clean, you can begin to apply the glue. If you are using clear epoxy glue, make sure to apply it in a thin layer over the entire area. If you are using super glue, apply it only to the broken edges. Allow the glue to dry and harden completely before proceeding.
Tape the Glass
The next step is to tape the glass pieces together. Place the pieces of broken glass on some old newspapers and secure them in place with masking tape. This will help keep the pieces together while you work.
Hammer the Glass
Once the pieces are taped together, it is time to hammer them back together. Using a small hammer, gently tap the pieces of glass together until they are firmly fixed in place. Take your time and make sure to wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.
Clean Up
Finally, it is time to clean up. Carefully remove any excess glue with a damp rag. Once everything is cleaned up and dry, you can admire your newly repaired glass coffee table!
