How to Finish a Wooden Coffee Table

Materials
- Rubber Gloves
- Wood Conditioner
- Paint or Stain

Preparation
- Gently sand down the surfaces of the coffee table with sandpaper.
- Wipe away any dust with a rag or old newspaper.
- Apply a liberal amount of wood conditioner to the coffee table.
- Allow the wood conditioner to penetrate the wood for one to two hours before moving onto the next step.
Finish Application
- Protect the area in which you are working and put on rubber gloves before applying paint or stain.
- Apply a coat of paint or stain to the coffee table using a paint brush or foam brush.
- Allow the paint or stain to dry before applying a second coat.
- Apply polyurethane until you have achieved a protective finish.
