How to Create Waves on Glass Coffee Table
Creating a unique feature for your home doesn’t have to be expensive and time-consuming. Creating waves on a glass coffee table is a creative way to liven up your home decor with a little DIY.
What You’ll Need
- Glass coffee table
- Heat gun
- Blue painter’s tape
- Protective materials (newspaper, cardboard, etc)
Step 1: Protect Surroundings
Before proceeding with creating your waves on the glass coffee table, it is important to protect whatever surface and materials you will be working on so that they do not melt from the heat. Spread a layer of newspaper, cardboard, or other protective material to cushion the area where you will be working.
Step 2: Plan Out Design
Using the blue painter’s tape, it’s time to plan out the design. Decide where you would like the waves to start and end. This will help give you a better idea of where to start with the heat gun and the path that you would like the wave to follow to avoid over-heating certain areas.
Step 3: Apply Heat Gun
Using the heat gun on its highest setting, route the heat gun back and forth along the lines that you have designed with the painter’s tape. Keep in mind to avoid overheating the glass as it can cause it to shatter. Move the heat gun continuously so that it cannot focus on one spot too long.
Step 4: Clean and Enjoy
Once you have finished the desired design, carefully remove the painter’s tape and the protective layer beneath. Enjoy your newly created wave design on your glass coffee table. It will now add that unique touch to your home decor.
