How to Cover a Coffee Table with Pennies
Step 1: Purchase your supplies
To cover a coffee table with pennies, you will need the following supplies:
- Scissors
- Glue
- Coarse-grit sandpaper
- One or two packages of pennies
Step 2: Prepare the coffee table
Before beginning, you must prepare the surface of your coffee table. Sand it down with the course-grit sandpaper, and then wipe down the dust with a damp cloth.
Step 3: Start laying down the pennies
To start off, you need to lay down at least one layer of pennies over the entire surface before you begin making patterns. Begin by spreading a thin layer of glue over the surface, and then start laying down the pennies in as close to a perfect grid pattern as possible.
Step 4: Create patterns with the pennies
Now you can have some fun and add some personality to your project. Use the remaining pennies to create a variety of patterns like stars, circles, waves, and so forth. You may also want to cut some of the pennies into shapes or use different colors of pennies. Be creative and have fun!
Step 5: Secure the pennies
Once you’re finished creating patterns, you need to secure the pennies to the surface. Simply use the glue sparingly over the top of the pennies and use a cloth to wipe away any excess. Allow the glue to dry completely before using the coffee table.
Step 6: Enjoy your masterpiece!
Once the glue is completely dry, your coffee table is officially covered in pennies, and you can now enjoy the look and feel of your masterpiece!
