How to Clean the Inside of a Glass Coffee Carafe

If you often use a glass coffee carafe, you know what a hassle it can be to get cleaned properly! When dealing with a glass carafe that has built-up coffee residue, here are some cleaning tips you can use:

Things You Will Need:

  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Sponge or cloth
  • Bottle brush

Step 1: Rinse and Soak

First, rinse the carafe with hot water. Make sure you get inside the carafe and swish the water around. This can help dislodge some of the build up. Then, fill a bowl with a solution of one part vinegar and one part water. Soak the carafe for about 30 minutes to loosen stubborn residue.

Step 2: Make a Baking Soda Paste

Mix together some baking soda and a few tablespoons of water to make a paste. Spread the paste inside the carafe and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Then use a sponge or cloth to scrub away the residue.

Step 3: Use a Bottle Brush

For the hard-to-reach places, use a bottle brush. Dip the brush into the baking soda paste and use it to scrub off any remaining residue.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

When you’re done scrubbing, rinse the carafe with hot water. Make sure you get all the baking soda residue out of the carafe. Then dry with a soft cloth and your glass carafe should be good as new!

Tips:

  • You can also use a dishwashing solution instead of the baking soda paste.
  • If you don’t have a bottle brush, you can use a cotton swab or pipe cleaner.
  • Let your carafe cool before you start cleaning it.

Cleaning a glass coffee carafe doesn’t have to be a hassle. With the right tools and these tips, it can be done quickly and easily.
