How to Clean a Glass Coffee Pot

Coffee is one of life’s simple pleasures and having a clean coffee pot is an important step to getting the best cup of joe. Knowing how to clean a glass coffee pot properly is essential in getting rid of any impurities buildup, while also keeping the flavor of your coffee as fresh as possible. Here are some simple steps you can take to make sure your glass coffee pot stays as sparkling clean as possible.

Step 1: Disassemble the Coffee Pot

The first thing you need to do is to disassemble the coffee pot, removing the lid, filter, basket and other components and separating them for cleaning. Rinse each part in warm water to remove any coffee grounds and residue.

Step 2: Prepare a Solution

Make a mixture of vinegar and baking soda in order to create a cleaning solution. For best results, use equal parts vinegar and baking soda, mixed with enough warm water to cover the inside of the coffee pot.

Step 3: Soak the Parts

Soak the individual components of the coffee pot in the vinegar solution for at least 15 minutes. This will help to lift out dirt and coffee oils that may have built up over time.

Step 4: Scrub and Rinse

Use a soft sponge or cloth to gently rub away any remaining dirt or coffee grounds. Rinse the components in clean water and set aside to dry.

Step 5: Reassemble and Enjoy!

Once all of the parts have been cleaned and dried, reassemble the coffee pot and add fresh coffee grounds. Pour water into the coffee pot and you’re ready to brew a cup of delicious and perfectly clean coffee!

Tips and Warnings

  • Be sure to use vinegar and baking soda, rather than bleach or other cleaning products.
  • Do not place the coffee pot in the dishwasher. The intense heat may cause damage to the glass.
  • Be sure to completely rinse the components after soaking and scrubbing, as any residue of vinegar or baking soda can ruin the flavor of your coffee.
