How to Clean a Glass Coffee Carafe with Vinegar

Coffee carafes are essential and convenient tools for making and serving coffee, but they can easily become clogged with coffee residue and oils. Regular cleaning of your coffee carafe with the right method can lead to better tasting coffee and a longer life for the carafe. Vinegar is the perfect tool to clean a coffee carafe.

Instructions

  • Soak the carafe:Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into the carafe. Fill the carafe with cold water, leaving enough room for the lemon halves. Let the carafe soak for approximately two to four hours.
  • Vinegar Cleanse:Kill any germs and banish the bad odors with simple white vinegar. Fill the carafe with equal parts cold water and hot water. Add three tablespoons of white vinegar, then let the carafe sit for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse the carafe:After the 15 minute soak, pour out the vinegar water. Fill the carafe with cold water and swish it around to help rinse away any leftover food particles and other debris. Finally, rinse your carafe with plain cold water.
  • Dry the carafe:After rinsing, dry the carafe completely with a soft cotton cloth or paper towel. Make sure to get all around the rim so no vinegar residue is left behind.

Once you’ve cleaned your carafe with vinegar, you can make your favorite cup of coffee. And with regular cleaning, your carafe will not only look good but make great tasting coffee too.
