How to Clean a Glass Coffee Carafe
If you are a coffee drinker, you know the importance of maintaining a clean and tidy coffee carafe. Coffee residues stuck to the carafe can impart a bitter taste to the next batch of coffee, and can even create an unpleasant smell that can make your coffee drinking experience less than enjoyable. Fortunately, it’s not too difficult to keep your coffee carafe nice and fresh. Here are a few tips on how to clean a glass coffee carafe:
Pre-cleansing Rinse
Before you start cleaning a glass coffee carafe, make sure to rinse it out with warm water. This will help to loosen up any coffee particles and residual oils.
Coffee and Salt Solution
Mix together a few tablespoons of ground coffee and 1 tablespoon of salt. Pour this concoction into your coffee carafe and then fill it up with warm water. Let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes, and then roll the carafe around in order to get the mixture to all of the sides.
Scrub Away the Residue
Take a non-abrasive scrub brush and scrub the inside of the carafe. You should be able to easily get off all of the residue that has built up in your carafe.
Soak the Carafe
Create a solution of 1 part vinegar, 4 parts water, and pour this into the carafe. Let the mixture soak for several hours or overnight. This will help to get rid of any tough stains and odors.
Rinse and Dry
Once you are finished soaking, rinse out your carafe and towel-dry.
Your carafe should now be nice and clean, and your coffee should taste better than ever! To keep your carafe in top condition, make sure to clean it every couple of weeks or so.
Tips:
- Make sure to use a non-abrasive scrub brush.
- If you are finding it difficult to get all of the residue off, you can use a little bit of dish soap.
- It’s also important to avoid using bleach or any other harsh chemical products.
