How to Clean a Stained Glass Coffee Carafe

A glass coffee carafe can easily get stained and discolored with time due to coffee and tea residue. If your carafe has not been cleaned in awhile and has a layer of stained glass at the bottom, here are some tips on how to make it look brand new again:

Things You’ll Need:

  • Container
  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Scrub brush
  • Sponges
  • Paper towels

Steps :

  1. Remove excess residue from the carafe. Rinse the carafe with warm water to get rid of any visible residue. If there are grounds present, submerge the carafe in a container filled with warm water and let it sit.
  2. Make a paste using baking soda and water. Use a 1:1 ratio of baking soda and water to make a paste.
  3. Apply the paste to the carafe. Take the baking soda paste and completely cover the affected area in the carafe with it.
  4. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Once the paste is applied, leave it on the carafe for 10 to 15 minutes so it can deep clean the carafe.
  5. Rinse with vinegar. Pour white vinegar over the carafe, and use a scrub brush to help remove the paste. The vinegar is great at cutting through grease, and the foam will help remove the paste.
  6. Scrub with a sponge. Use a sponge to scrub gently over the stained an areas. It should have enough abrasive power to effectively remove the stains.
  7. Rinse with water. Once you’re done scrubbing, rinse the carafe thoroughly with water and paper towels to make sure it’s clean.
  8. Let it air dry. Finally, let the carafe air dry completely before using it again.

By following these steps, you should be able to clean all the stained and discolored areas in your glass coffee carafe and make it look like new.
