How to Clean a Glass Coffee Pot
Making coffee can bring a sense of comfort and daily routine for many people. To continue to enjoy your coffee entirely and without any unpleasant surprises, maintaining your coffee pot is a must. Here are the steps to clean your glass coffee pot for the best tasting coffee.
Gather Supplies
- Soap or dishwashing liquid
- Dishcloths or sponges
- White vinegar
- Toothbrush (optional)
Prepare to Clean
- Mix 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water in the carafe
- Put the vinegar and water solution into the coffeemaker tank and turn the machine on
- Wait for the brewing cycle to finish
- Once finished, turn the machine off and unplug it
Start Cleaning
- Empty the carafe and wash it out using some soap or dishwashing liquid and a cloth or sponge
- Rinse the carafe with warm water and allow to air-dry
- Clean the outer surface of the coffeemaker with a damp cloth
- If necessary, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove stubborn residue
- Refill the machine with a vinegar-water solution and run a brewing cycle again
- Turn off the coffeemaker, unplug it and discard the leftover vinegar-water solution left in the carafe
- Rinse the carafe and the coffeemaker tank with clean water several times
- Leave the carafe to air-dry
Cooldown and Enjoying
- Clean the filter basket with a damp cloth, if automatic cleaning isn’t available
- Replace the filter, the carafe and plug the machine back in
- Fill the tank with clean water and start the machine again
- Discard the content of the carafe
- Your coffeemaker is now ready! Enjoy your next cup of coffee
