How To Clean A Glass Coffee Carafe

Glass coffee carafes are an important part of any coffee-drinking experience. Whether you own a high-end pour-over coffee maker or an affordable electric brewer, keeping your coffee carafe clean is essential in brewing consistently delicious coffee. Here’s how to clean a glass coffee carafe in eight easy steps.

Step 1: Disassemble

First, disassemble the carafe and lid. Usually, the lid should just pop off the carafe, although you may need to use a bit of leverage in cases where the lid has become stuck or warped from heat.

Step 2: Clean The Outside Of The Carafe

Next, run some hot water and dish soap into the inside of the carafe. Then, take a damp cloth or sponge and remove any deposits on the outside of the glass. You may wish to use a plastic or wooden scrub pad or brush to remove tougher stains. Make sure to rinse it thoroughly afterwards.

Step 3: Clean The Inside Of The Carafe

Add a few tablespoons of white vinegar and a few milliliters of water to the carafe. Swirl the solution around the inside of the carafe until it is evenly distributed.

Step 4: Soak

Let the carafe soak for 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the vinegar and water to remove any buildup on the carafe’s walls.

Step 5: Rinse Out Vinegar Solution

Once the time is up, pour out the vinegar mixture and rinse the carafe out with hot water. Make sure that all of the vinegar is gone.

Step 6: Dry

Shake out any excess water and place the carafe upside down on a drying rack to drain the water out. Make sure the carafe is completely air-dried before you put it away.

Step 7: Clean The Lid

Finally, take a damp cloth or sponge and clean off the lid. Again, you may want to use a plastic or wooden scrub pad for tougher stains. Again, rinse off all soap and dry the lid before putting it away.

Step 8: Reassemble

Once everything is dry, put the lid back onto the carafe and you’re all set!

Following these steps should help you keep your glass coffee carafe as clean, spotless, and sparkling as new. Happy brewing!
