How to Build a Sturdy Coffee Table
Materials Needed
- 2-3 long wooden boards (length will vary according to desired coffee table dimensions)
- 8 wooden dowels
- Heavy duty screws (amount will vary)
- Drill and screws
- Wood glue
Step1: Cut the Wooden Boards
Using a saw or other cutting tool, cut your boards to the desired length, making sure to keep the ends of them even. Be sure to wear protective gear and measure twice before cutting.
Step2: Drill
Drill holes in each end of the boards, making sure to measure them equally. The holes should be just larger than the diameter of the dowel.
Step3: Glue
Apply wood glue to the top and bottom of the dowels and insert them into the drilled holes. Wipe away any excess glue.
Step4: Attach the Boards
Use your drill and heavy duty screws to fasten the boards together. Start by attaching one end of the board, then attach the other end, making sure to keep the boards level and lined up with one another.
Step5: Finish
Apply a coat of sealant or other finish to your coffee table to protect it from water and dirt. You can also use paints, stains, or wood varnishes to give your table a more unique look.
