How to Build a Reclaimed Wood Coffee Table
Creating a beautiful coffee table from reclaimed wood is a great way to add a unique, unique and environmentally friendly touch to any living room. The following steps will help you get started.
Step 1: Gather Materials
- Reclaimed wood: You can find reclaimed wood in pallets, barns, old furniture, and even curbside. Depending on your skill level, you may want to purchase wood pre-sanded and ready to use.
- Tools: A circular saw, a hammer, wood glue and nails, hand saw and drill.
- Finishing: Sandpaper, wood stain of your choice and varnish.
Step 2: Cut the Lumber
Use the circular saw to cut the lumber into four equal-sized rectangles and four support boards. You may need to adjust the cutting angle depending on the width of your coffee table.
Step 3: Assemble the Frame
Use the wood glue and nails to assemble the four rectangles into the shape of a rectangle. Place the internal board inside the frame and use additional glue and nails to secure it in place.
Step 4: Attach the Table Top
Use a hand saw to cut the reclaimed wood into planks. Arrange the planks on top of the frame and glue them down. Secure the planks with nails or screws.
Step 5: Sand and Finish
Use sandpaper or an electric sander to smooth the edges and surfaces of the table top and frame. Apply a coat of wood stain and allow it to dry for the recommended time. Apply a second coat of stain and allow it to dry. Apply varnish to protect the finish and create a polished look.
Congratulations, you have just created a beautiful and unique custom coffee table from reclaimed wood. Enjoy!
