How to Build a Farmhouse Coffee Table
Creating a farmhouse style coffee table is easy to do, and can be done with minimal tools – all you need is a few pieces of wood, some screws and some basic knowledge of basic woodworking skills. Here’s how you can make your own farmhouse coffee table:
Step 1: Gather Materials
You will need the following materials to build the coffee table:
- 4 pieces of wood (2×4, 3×2, or 4×2 lumber) in the desired size and length
- 3 dowels
- Wood screws
- A drill
- A saw (or circular saw)
- Wood glue
Step 2: Cut Pieces to Desired Size
Using the saw or circular saw, cut the wood pieces to the desired size. Make sure to measure carefully, as the dimensions should be exact.
Step 3: Create Tabletop Frame
Using the two longest pieces of wood, create a frame for your tabletop by attaching them together with the screws. Make sure to pre-drill the holes for the screws to ensure that the frame is secure.
Step 4: Attach Tabletop Frame to Legs
Using the shorter pieces of wood, attach them to the frame to create the legs of the table. Again, use the screws and pre-drill the holes to ensure a secure connection.
Step 5: Attach Dowels for Support
Using the dowels, attach them to the four corners of the table frame and legs to add extra support. Secure them with wood glue.
Step 6: Finish
Lastly, finish off the table with a coat of paint or stain of your choice to give it the final look you want.
And voilà! You now have a farmhouse style coffee table to enjoy.
