Create a Window Frame Coffee Table
Coffee tables are a great way to add a stylish and decorative touch to any living room. If you have an old window frame, you can easily repurpose it into a unique and useful coffee table. This project is much simpler than it looks and only requires a few materials.
Materials:
- Old window frame
- ¼-inch plywood cut to fit the frame
- Jigsaw
- Drill
- Wood screws
- Finishing nails
- 110-grit sandpaper
- Wood glue
- Wood finish of your choice (stain, sealer, etc.)
Steps:
- Lay the window frame on a flat work surface. Measure and mark the plywood top so that it will fit the frame. Using a jigsaw, cut out the marked shape on the plywood.
- Pre-drill holes around the frame of the window and the plywood top. These are for the wood screws. Attach both pieces together using the screws.
- Flip the frame over, and Secure the plywood to the bottom of the window frame using finishing nails.
- Sand the entire piece with 110-grit sandpaper. This will help the wood glue and wood finish adhere to the surfaces.
- Apply wood glue to the bottom of the frame, and position four furniture feet evenly around the perimeter of the bottom. Press down to ensure good adhesion, and let the glue dry according to the product’s instructions.
- Apply the chosen wood finish to the entire piece. This could be a sealer, stain, paint, or a combination of all three.
- Allow the finish to dry completely before placing anything on the table.
Creating your own window frame coffee table is a fun project that will not only save you money, but also add unique charm to your living room. This project can be done in one afternoon with readily available materials, and is great for any do-it-yourselfer.
