How to build a small glass coffee table

Creating your own glass coffee table can add a sleek and stylish feel to your living room, and is a rewarding home project that yields beautiful results. Here’s a guide on how to build a small glass coffee table.

Step One: Gather Materials

Before you begin constructing the coffee table, you’ll need the following supplies:

  • Sheet of ⅜-inch-thick clear glass, measured to the desired size of the tabletop
  • 1.5-inch-thick PVC board, measured to the desired size of the tabletop
  • 4 L-brackets
  • Ruler
  • Tape measure
  • Screws
  • Drill
  • Masonry bit
  • 4 angled corner braces

Step Two: Cut your PVC board

Using a ruler and a masonry bit, drill holes in the PVC board at the corners and in the middle, on the same side of the board. Carefully cut the board along the drills holes. You should now have four pieces of PVC, held together in an X-shape by the L-brackets.

Step Three: Attach the corner braces

Using the screws, attach the four angled corner braces to the underside of the X-shaped PVC board. This will provide additional stability and prevent the board from shifting.

Step Four: Place the glass top

Next, carefully lay the sheet of glass over the X-shaped PVC board. Make sure the glass is centered and securely resting on the braces.

Step Five: Secure the glass top

Using a tape measure, ensure that the glass is secured to the frame. Once it is, use the screws to firmly secure the glass in place. Congratulations, you’ve finished building your small glass coffee table!

Good luck, and enjoy your new coffee table!
