How to Build a Small Glass Coffee Table
Let’s show you some of the steps needed to build a sharp-looking small glass coffee table in your own home.
Step 1: Choose and Purchase the Materials
You will need to purchase the following materials in order to build the table:
- Glass– Two pieces of square or rectangular glass of the size you would like
- Steel Tubing – Enough to make the frame of the table. The size will depend on the size of your glass and the look you would like to achieve
- Screws – Self-drilling screws work best
- Drill & Bits – To assist in making the holes you will need in the steel tubing
Step 2: Cut the Steel Tubing
Using the drill and a metal cutter bit, cut the steel tubing into four equal lengths. This will be used to make the sides of the frame.
Step 3: Drill Holes into Steel Tubing
Using the drill and a metal-tipped drill bit, drill six holes in each piece of steel tubing. Holes near the ends will be used to attach the steel tubing to the glass. The other holes will be used to attach the four pieces of the frame to one another.
Step 4: Assemble the Frame
Now that all the necessary holes have been drilled, we can now assemble the frame. Use the self-drilling screws to screw the four pieces of the frame together. Make sure to double-check that all the pieces are lined up correctly and the screws are tightened, otherwise your frame may be mis-shapen.
Step 5: Attach the Glass
Using the self-drilling screws and the holes drilled earlier, attach the two pieces of glass to the frame. Make sure the glass is fitted snugly against the frame to ensure that it does not fall through.
Step 6: Enjoy your New Table!
