Steps to Build a Small Glass Coffee Table
Building your own coffee table can be an exciting DIY project. And when you use glass as the base, you create a more modern look that can easily blend with nearly any home interior. Here’s how to build a small, glass coffee table.
Tools Needed
- Clamps
- Table saw
- Drill
- Glass cutter
- Safety glasses
Materials
- Wood pieces for the frame
- Hinges
- Glass sheet
- Screws
Step 1: Create the Frame
Start with your wood pieces and using the table saw, cut each panel to the desired length. Next, attach the pieces together using the clamps, drill and screws. Once done, you’ll have the basic frame for the table.
Step 2: Insert the Hinges
Attach the hinges to either side of the frame with the drill. Don’t tighten the screws too much. Using the drill, create two pilot holes towards the bottom of the frame where the hinges will be placed. This will ensure that your hinges are all aligned and will ease the attachment of the hinges.
Step 3: Cut the Glass
Place the glass sheet on a sturdy surface and use the glass cutter to cut it to the size of the frame. Make sure to wear safety glasses during this process.
Step 4: Attach the Glass
Using the already placed pilot holes, attach the hinges to the edges of the glass. Make sure to attach them to the middle of the sheet. The thoughtfully placed clamps and pilot holes should help the glass perfectly attach to the frame.
Step 5: Enjoy Your Creation!
After these steps, you now have your very own small, glass coffee table. Choose an appropriate space for the table and enjoy your successful DIY project!
Happy building!
