- Miter saw
- Wood glue
- Router with bits
- Wood screws
- 1” x 4” dowel rod
- 3/4” plywood

Step 1: Choose your design
Choose a design that fits your space and style. You might want to sketch it out on paper first so you know exactly how it will look.
Step 2: Measure and Cut Materials
Measure the dimensions of your coffee table and cut the plywood, dowel rod, and any other wood that is needed to the proper sizes.
Step 3: Assemble the frame
Assemble the frame of the coffee table. Attach the 4 sides with wood screws and glue.
Step 4: Attach the sliding top
Attach the sliding top to the frame of the coffee table. This can be done with small nails or wood glue.
Step 5: Route and Sand
Once the frame and top are attached, route the edges with a router to give them a nice, finished look. Then sand the entire table with sandpaper.
Step 6: Stain and Polyurethane
Once the edges are rounded, apply wood stain to the entire table. Finally, apply a few coats of polyurethane to protect the wood and make it last longer.

Your coffee table is now complete and ready to be enjoyed! Place it in your living room and show it off to your friends and family.
