How to Build a Simple Wood Coffee Table

Building a simple wood coffee table is a great way to add a stylish and efficient piece of furniture to your home. A wood coffee table is a great addition to any room and is useful for storage and to provide a flat surface for snacks and beverages. Here are the steps to build your own simple wood coffee table:

Step 1: Gather Materials

  • Four 2”X 2” boards of your desired length.
  • Four 2”X 4” boards for the sides of the table.
  • Two 2”X 4” boards for the table top and bottom.
  • Deck screws.
  • Drill.
  • 2” wood screws.
  • Table saw or circular saw.
  • Wood filler.
  • Sandpaper.
  • Paint or stain.

Step 2: Cut the Wood

Using a saw, cut the four pieces of 2×2 wood to the desired length for the legs of the table. Next, cut the two pieces of 2×4 wood to the desired length for the table top and bottom. Finally, cut each of the four 2×4 boards that will serve as the sides of the table.

Step 3: Assemble the Table

Once the pieces of wood are cut, begin to assemble the table. Start by attaching the four 2”x 2” leg pieces to the bottom 2”x4” board with the deck screws. Make sure to set these screws in the corners of the boards. Next, attach the four 2”x4” side boards to the top of the bottom 2”x4” board. Make sure to use the wood screws for this step. Finally, attach the second 2”x4” board to the sides with the deck screws to form the top of the table.

Step 4: Fill and Sand

Once the table is assembled, use the wood filler to fill in any screws or gaps in the wood. Once the wood filler is dry, use the sandpaper to sand down any rough edges.

Step 5: Paint or Stain

Finally, it’s time to paint or stain your table. Allow the paint or stain to dry completely.

And you’re done!

You now have a beautiful, simple wood coffee table! Enjoy your newly made piece of furniture.
