How to Build a River Coffee Table
Do you want a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of furniture to show off in your house? A river coffee table is an excellent choice. It adds an eye-catching feature to any room and is surprisingly easy to make. Here’s how to create a river coffee table.
Materials
You will need the following materials to build the table:
- A sheet of tempered glass, at least 5/8-inch thick
- Two pieces of softwood furniture-grade plywood (one for the top and one for the bottom)
- ½-inch dowels to serve as legs
- An epoxy kit
- Colorful stones and other items to create the river design
Making The Table
1. Construct the frame
First, you need to construct the frame. To do this, use a jigsaw or circular saw to cut the plywood into the size and shape you desire. Then, attach the dowels to the bottom piece of plywood to form the legs.
2. Prepare the glass
Next, you need to prepare the glass. Cut the sheet of tempered glass that you purchased to the same size and shape as the bottom plywood. Clean the glass to remove any dust and dirt.
3. Assemble the pieces
Now, it’s time to assemble the pieces. Place the glass on top of the bottom plywood, and then attach the top plywood to the dowels. Use wood glue and nails to secure the pieces.
4. Fill the table
Finally, fill the table with the stones, rocks and other items you have chosen. Apply the epoxy to secure the items in place. Allow the epoxy to dry completely.
Enjoy Your New Coffee Table
Now that your river coffee table is finished, you can admire your work and show it off to your friends and family. Enjoy your unique and stylish new furniture.
