Coffee tables are a great way to bring added function and style to your living room. There are many great options you can choose from, but the ottoman coffee table offers a unique look to any living room. In this article, we’ll look at how to make your own ottoman coffee table.
Tools and Materials You’ll Need
-
- ¾ inch plywood
-
- Fabric
-
- Staples
-
- Foam
-
- Scissors
-
- Drill
-
- Bolts
-
- Screwdriver
Step 1: Cut Plywood and Foam
Start by measuring out your plywood. Take into consideration the amount of fabric you will need for each section of the ottoman. Cut the plywood pieces accordingly. Once the plywood is cut, cut the foam to fit snugly within the plywood.
Step 2: Attach Plywood and Foam
Use your drill and screws to attach the plywood pieces to the foam. Make sure none of the screws protrude more than ¼ inch below the plywood surface.
Step 3: Cut Fabric and Cover Top and Sides
Cut the fabric to fit the top and sides of the ottoman. Be sure to allow enough fabric to fold underneath the plywood. You may need to fold multiple layers of fabric to make it thick enough. Secure the fabric to the plywood and foam with the staples.
Step 4: Attach Legs
Attach the ottoman legs with the bolts. The bolts should be long enough to go through the plywood and into the foam. Secure with the screwdriver. Make sure the ottoman is level.
Step 5: Fill and Secure Lids
Fill the top of the ottoman with foam and fabric. Secure the fabric to the top with the staples. Attach the lid to the top using the bolts. Secure the lid in place with the screwdriver.
