How the Top & Bottom Glass Coffee Pot Works

The top & bottom glass coffee pot is an American classic. It is an old-time favorite method of brewing coffee that has withstood the test of time.

The Anatomy

A top & bottom glass coffee pot consists of two separate glass pieces. The top piece is called the upper chamber, which holds the grounds and holds the hot water. The lower chamber holds the brewed coffee. There is also a filter and a rubber gasket which seals the two glass pieces together.

How it Works

Step 1: Put ground coffee in the upper chamber and then add hot water.

Step 2: Put the filter and the rubber gasket onto the lower chamber, then fit the upper chamber on top. Make sure the gasket is in place to create a tight seal.

Step 3: Place the pot on the stove and heat on medium-high heat.

Step 4: Once the water starts to boil, reduce the heat and let the coffee steep. After the desired time, switch the stove off and remove from heat.

Step 5: Use a spoon to gently press down the grounds in the upper chamber, then slowly twist and separate the upper and lower chambers.

Step 6: Pour your fresh brewed coffee and enjoy!

Caring for your Top & Bottom Glass Coffee Pot

To keep your top & bottom glass coffee pot in good condition, it’s important to take the following precautions:

  • Handle with care: The glass on your pot is fragile, so make sure you handle it carefully to avoid any damage.
  • Don’t heat up too much: Make sure you don’t heat the pot up too much, as this can cause the glass to crack or shatter.
