How to Remove Scratches from a Glass Coffee Table
Scratches on glass can be unsightly and detract from the beauty of your furniture. It is possible to remove scratches from a glass coffee table, restoring its look and luster.
Things You Will Need
- Fine grit wet and dry sandpaper
- Glass cleaning solution
- Soft cloth
- Polishing compound
- Cotton ball
Step 1: Start with Wet Sandpaper
Start with a piece of fine grit wet and dry sandpaper. Wet the sandpaper in clean water and gently rub the sandpaper on the scratched area. Do not press too hard, as this may cause more scratches. Keep rubbing the area in a circular motion until the scratches start to disappear.
Step 2: Clean the Glass
Once you have finished sanding the scratched area, use a glass cleaning solution and a soft cloth to wipe away any residue left behind. Work in a circular motion and be sure to wipe away any remaining scratched area.
Step 3: Apply the Polishing Compound
Once the area is clean, apply a small amount of polishing compound to a soft cloth or cotton ball and rub gently over the scratched area. The rubbing should be done in a circular motion until the area is polished and shiny.
Step 4: Rinse and Wipe Away Excess Compound
Once you have finished polishing the area, use a clean, damp cloth to rinse away any remaining compound. Wipe the area dry with a soft, clean cloth, and your glass coffee table should be scratch free.
Tip: Be sure not to use too much pressure while sanding or polishing. Too much pressure can cause deeper scratches and can damage the glass.
